The Sport Track has been created by the Panathlon Club of Lausanne, with the support of: Lausanne, the Olympic Capital Centre of the administration of world-wide sport, Lausanne has been awarded the title of "Olympic Capital" in 1994. Headquarters of the IOC and harbouring the International House of Sport, the capital of the canton of Vaud accommodates many international sports federations and organizations, as well as the Olympic Museum. Through its infrastructures and by organizing numerous events, Lausanne reinforces the Olympic ideal by encouraging sport competition as a family and popular practice. Thanks to the clubs, the population has the possibility to engage in 60 sports activities, also open to the aged and disabled. The Canton of Vaud The Canton of Vaud promotes physical activity, sport for all and fair play. It aims at the improvement of its population’s health and well-being. It plays a major role in the physical and sport education at school, secondary schools and professional institutions, as well as in the Youth+Sport movement (schooling of trainers among other things). It commits itself to the improvement of sport infrastructure and to supporting high-level sports. Headquarters of the International Olympic Committee, the Canton of Vaud welcomes international organizations and competitions. The International Olympic Committee The mission of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is the promotion throughout the world of Olympism with all its fundamental principles and values; to lead the Olympic Movement and to ensure the regular celebration of the Olympic Games. The IOC encourages the promotion and the development of sport by placing it in the service of society. Under the authority of the IOC, the Olympic Movement contributes to the construction of a better and peaceful world by educating the youth through the practice of sport, free of discrimination and in the spirit of friendship and fair play.
